Current obsession : Chanel 2.55 handbag!

The Chanel 2.55 is a luxury leather handbag or purse manufactured by the fashion house of Chanel.

In the 1920s, Coco Chanel became tired of having to carry her handbags in her arms and decided to design a handbag that freed up her hands. Inspired by the straps found on soldiers’ bags she added thin straps and introduced the resulting design to the market in 1929. After her successful comeback to the fashion industry in 1954, Chanel decided to update her handbag, for the modern woman. The resulting design was called 2.55 after the date of creation, February 1955.

The bag has a number of features:
  • The lining’s burgundy colour represents the colour of the uniforms at the convent where Coco Chanel grew up.
  • There is a zippered compartment at the inside of the front flap. That is where Chanel is rumoured to have stored her love letters in her original bag.
  • The backside has a back outside flap for storage of money.
  • Chanel, recognising that modern women needed to have their hands free while attending social functions, designed a double-chain shoulder strap, something common in downmarket products, but rare in luxury circles at the time. The chains were attached by leather-threaded chain inserted though eyelets. The caretakers of the convent where she grew up held the keys at their waist dangling from the same type of chains as the 2.55 shoulder strap chains.
  • The bag originally came with a front lock called “the Mademoiselle Lock” (in reference to Coco Chanel never marrying). Since the 1980s, versions can also be supplied with a lock in the shape of a double CC logo. These called “Classic Flaps”.
  • The bag has a quilted diamond or herringbone pattern on the exterior. Using a running stitch, this gives the bag shape and volume. The pattern is believed to have been inspired by several sources: by jockeys’ riding coats, by the stained-glass windows of the abbey at Aubazine, as well as by the cushions in Chanel’s Paris apartment.

2013 Horoscope

Have you been hoping for a great year? Finally, you may be in "luck." You may have to work hard for it, but at the same time, 2013 will be dominated by making strong connections with others in an area your life may have been lagging.

Because of that, you won't be struggling uphill. The people who need to assist you will be there with you every step of the way. As a result, you may feel a bit "luckier" this year than you have in previous years - but don't fool yourself. Everything you will achieve will have been put into place primarily through your own efforts.

Now the horoscope sign by sign:

Fire Signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius): Uranus in Aries, the Moon in Leo, and Venus in Sagittarius form a wide trine that will keep you busy, but it will be a good busy. One person or another will set into motion circumstances that will keep you on your toes, creating new connections to other people and possibly allowing you to make deeper inroads into a more profound romantic life. The people outside your circle may even say how lucky you are, but you will know that your efforts are based on hard work.

And if you're looking for love, money, friends, family-related success, etc., when the timing is right you can hit the jackpot. The Moon is in Leo, high in the sky, in the Eleventh House of hopes, dreams, and wishes - as well as friendships - trining Venus, planet of love, in Sagittarius. That means the planets are lined up to give you what you need, provided you earn it!

Earth Signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn): Mercury, Pluto, and the Sun are all posited in Capricorn. Capricorn is generally regarded as a business-oriented sign, which indicates a great deal of hard work. Pluto, the planet of wealth, will make sure your efforts aren't unrewarded. You may think that things are coming just a little too easy, but don't wait for the other shoe to drop! If you're getting more than you've gotten previously, you've earned it all the way.

Air Signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius): The start of the year puts Jupiter, planet of success and good fortune, in lofty Gemini, high in the sky, forming a sextile with Uranus, the planet of luck, in fiery Aries... a truly lucky combination for you. In addition, one of the two incomplete Grand Trines involves Air Signs: Jupiter, planet of luck and success, in Gemini, the Ascendant in Libra, the sign ruling partnerships, and Mars, planet of energy and action, in Aquarius, planet of group activities as well as the future. This means energy within your intellect will create success. Your problem-solving abilities will be at their apex, helping to find solutions with remarkable ease.

Water Signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces): The second incomplete Grand Trine is a water trine involving the Midheaven in Cancer, the sign ruling home and family. There is also Saturn, planet of perseverance as well as career matters, in Scorpio, and Neptune, planet of romance and idealism, in romantic and psychic Pisces. This trine creates an environment of elevated spiritual and emotional strength. Aided by a Solar Eclipse in early November, this year is bookended by aspects that are conducive to happy reunions, joyous reconciliations, and strong romantic connections.

Quote of the day

Low calorie cupcake!

I can eat two and not feel guilty!! this recipe yields about 14 cupcakes but I've never seen a home kitchen muffin pan with more than 12 cups, so to avoid having to bake a batch of only two cupcakes, make them a little larger and only make one batch of twelve. The adjusted calorie count would make each cupcake 70 calories; still not bad for a decent-sized dessert!!

Low calorie pancakes!!

Guys, these are so easy it’s ridic!!
BananEgg Pancakes:

2 eggs
1 banana
Pam or other non-stick agent

Directions:
Slice your banana into a bowl. Add eggs. Whisk together until semi-smooth. You’ll have some clumpy banana bits, but that’s okay. Pour 1/4 cup of “batter” onto warm skillet (medium to medium high is best — eggs are delicate!). Let ‘em cook for about 45 seconds each side, and voila! Each batch makes about 15 minicakes. You don’t want them to be too big, or they’ll be hard to flip :).
They’re so good! Add a drizzle of sugar free syrup and you’ve got a great pancake substitute.
